WE SURVIVED!!!

We survived soccer season!! Why is that a big deal, you ask? Well, let me tell you! We had three kids playing soccer. It's been YEARS since we juggled three kids in activities and the FIRST time we did that since we turned our crazy family of five into a crazier family of nine! For fun we add that our biggest vehicle seats 7! One Twombly is in college but that still leaves 8 of us trying to get where we need to go!

Adjusting to homeschooling + soccer = One pooped Mama! But it was all good and I wouldn't have changed it but I am still relieved that as of last Tuesday, it's all done!

Today our sweet friend babysat and Robin and I got to go out for the DAY, yes I said the DAY!! We started out going out for Chinese food for lunch, my all time FAVORITE food. It was great but honestly, I was so sleepy!! So, after a couple of post lunch errands we took a pit stop to McDonald's for coffee because I love the Mocha Frappe!

Then...randomly...since we couldn't think of anything to do...no desire for shopping...we decide to drive to downtown Portland to see the apartment building where we first lived when we got married 23 years ago. Our next stop was right up the street to the little church we attended when we lived there.

Here's where the day got cool. We sat out in front of the church...old church...new name...so since we had plenty of time we're sitting there checking the church website out of Robin's phone. A man comes out of the church and asks if we knocked on the door (we didn't, a young boy was checking out the mail box). Before you know it we're going in to see the church and meet who we now know is the pastor.

We had a great visit of exchanging life stories and talking about our faith in Jesus and ministry and family and such. It was cool. Robin and I love to hear people's stories so it was the perfect afternoon for us. Just to meet someone new and to have your faith in common. You start out strangers then before you know it you are praying together for the same things. You begin on a handshake and you end on a hug!

"There is one body and one Spirit-just as you were called to one hope when you were called- 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." Ephesians 4:4-5

  1. What a great day;) I always wonder if carmakers are in there with population control - so many cars only seat 5...
